If you love your morning cup of coffee, you're getting some bonus antioxidants.

According to research, roasted coffee residues are high in antioxidants, which are compounds that help fight cell-damaging free radicals. But don't take this brew news too far. Stick to your usual serving limits. Too much caffeine from coffee may interfere with sleep and increase heart rate and blood pressure in sensitive individuals.

Roasted coffee residues are high in phenolic compounds that guard against oxidative damage. However, unfiltered coffee may impact cholesterol levels. Also, coffee contains caffeine. Although most people may safely consume about 250 milligrams of caffeine per day, you should not consume caffeine if you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, difficulty sleeping, or anxiety. Some less obvious sources of caffeine include chocolate, certain over-the-counter decongestants and cold medications, tea, and soft drinks. Even decaffeinated coffee can contain a small amount of caffeine.

RealAge Benefit: Getting the right amount of antioxidants through diet or supplements can make your RealAge 6 years younger.
