Acne affects about 17 million people in the United States alone, including:1

  • 85% of teenagers and young adults between 12 and 24 years old.
  • 8% of people between 25 and 34 years old.
  • 3% of people between 35 and 44 years old.

Male teenagers and young adults have more severe disease than young females, although acne tends to affect women longer than men.

Outbreaks of acne decline sharply after age 45.
