A fever with skin problems may mean a more serious illness is present. Serious skin symptoms may include:
- New, tiny purple or red spots (petechiae).
- A recent onset of bruises (purpura) without having an injury.
- A skin infection (cellulitis).
- A rash that looks like a sunburn that starts 2 days after a fever of 102°F (38.9°C) or higher.
A fever and any new skin problem needs immediate medical evaluation for serious illnesses.
