Different types of uterine fibroids include the following:
- Intramural fibroids grow within the uterine wall. They are the most common type of fibroids.
- Submucosal fibroids protrude into the uterine cavity.
- Pedunculated fibroids are attached to the uterus by a "stalk," somewhat like the stem of a plant.
- Intraligamentous fibroids grow inside the tissue that holds the uterus in place.
