Several different uterine problems can lead to preterm labor, including:
- A weakened, thin cervix (incompetent cervix).
- An abnormally shaped uterus.
- Too much amniotic fluid (polyhydramnios) in the uterus.
Problems with the uterus are not common causes of preterm labor.
