Your doctor or nurse-midwife may decide not to delay preterm labor with tocolytic medicine if you have:
- Very high blood pressure.
- Severe preeclampsia.
- HELLP syndrome, which is a life-threatening liver disorder thought to be a type of severe preeclampsia.
- Heart or lung disease.
- An infection (especially in the uterus) that is not responding to treatment with antibiotic medication.
- Severe bleeding from the vagina.
