Teenagers are very concerned about their own thoughts andbehaviors. Also, they may believe other people are watching them as well.

As a result, some teens may feel as if they are constantly"on stage" and are being judged by an imaginary audience. Teens may feel thatthe "audience" knows everything about them and is watching their every move.

A teen who is affected by this "imaginary audience" maybe very self-conscious and very concerned about appearance. For example, someteens may comb their hair endlessly, change their clothes often, and constantlylook in the mirror to see how they look to others.
