Heavy use of alcohol is defined as more than two drinks per day for men and more than one drink per day for women. One drink is 12 fl oz (355 mL) of beer, 5 fl oz (148 mL) of wine, or 1.5 fl oz (44 mL) of hard liquor.

Heavy use of alcohol increases the risk for many health problems.
