Types of chest pain and other symptoms that usually are not a cause for concern include:

  • Shooting pain that lasts only a few seconds.
  • Occasional pain that occurs with a deep breath and is not accompanied by shortness of breath.
  • Occasional skipped heartbeats or brief palpitations.
