Image of a booster seat

To make car travel safer for your child, use a booster seat for children older than age 4 and weighing more than 40 lb (18.1 kg) until they weigh at least 80 lb (36.3 kg). This raises the child up and allows him or her to see out of the window. Use regular lap and shoulder belts. Adjust the shoulder belt to fit across the shoulder, not the neck.
