Other conditions that may cause symptoms similar to seizures caused by epilepsy include:1
- Fainting and loss of consciousness (syncope).
- Psychogenic seizures (pseudoseizures). These may occur in people with or without epilepsy.
- Migraine headaches.
- Fever seizures (febrile convulsions).
- Muscle twitches or tics.
- Sleep disorders.
- Breath-holding spells.
- Ménière's disease.
- Transient ischemic attacks (TIAs).
