Dear Doctor, I have sinusitis continuously the year round. I don't think it's because of allergy. As I slept on my right side, my right nosril started to congest, and I could only breath through my left one, so it happened when I sleep on the other side. Sometimes the mucus create a bad smell, that I could feel myself.Someone said, it's caused by polip. Kindly advise me, how to come out of this unconvenient situation. Thank you.

I suffered for about 3 years with chronic sinusitis. Finally, one of my coworkers suggest that i see an allergy specialist. On my first visit, he did the skin prick test of 45 different allergens and it turns out that i was allergic to 31 of the 45. Trees, grass, pollen, dust ,cigarette smoke, dogs , cats, everything!! He put me on a monthly allergy shot and gave me Allerx to take at home and i've never felt better. So if you suffer from what you think is sinusitis or sinus infections and have a hard time getting rid of them, maybe you also have allergies...get tested soon!!!

Wow, thanks for the great tips. Sufferings tremendously with the nasal drip into the back of the throat each morning. Recently went to an otolaryngologist and feeling much better. However, I cannot get rid of the sore throat. Really like the idea about the skin prick for allergies.

Great article! I can't tell you how many times I went to the doctor and was treated with antibiotics for sinusitus, which always came back. It took changing doctors several times and ending up with one who recognized and treated me for allergies using a steroid. Since then (years), I have not had as many problems. And the funny thing is, I have always known that I had allergies/asthma, but the doctors still treated me for sinus infections.

This is very helpful as it explains how sinusitis effects an allergy sufferer. It is a point well taken that antibiotics are not the answer, especially if you are a chronic sufferer. I have year-round allergies, indoor & outdoor. I often suffer these infections. Please write an article about alternate means of controlling allergies and these ensuing infections, when the stimulus is not avoidable. Thanks! Ran

I´ve lived with allergies all my life! So it´s always advisable to get as much info as possible about it to help your doctor deal with it.
