Nice to see someone get the facts right. The media really missed the mark on this one. Thanks.

Yet another, should I say "well informed dr." informing how more drugs are better for the heart even after a study showing NO BENEFITS of Zetia or Vytorin over the generic zocor ( simvastatin). I am a Pharmacist practicing for over 20 years and have seen enough TRICKS of drug companies to EXTEND the expired patents of a drug. When Zocor came out in generic form Merck maker of Zocor lost its sale to generics and so it came back with a combination of Zetia and zocor in the form of VYTORIN and this study ENHANCE found it to be not any more effective than the generic ZOCOR ( simvastatin) . IF you want to know about the truth about cholesterol find an article in BUSSINESS WEEK last month you can surf the net right now and read some important real research on cholesterol.!!!

I (56 yr. male) have been on Vytorin for two years after several years of using various statins. With a family history of fatal cardiac events(father, brother) I was very concerned when I saw the negative reports about Vytorin because Vytorin is the only medicine that has brought my LDL down to near normal levels. When I asked my doctor about the reports, he explained it very simlarly to you. I will stay on Vytorin at least until more data is in.

I've had CHF for about 3 years now,, and had a massive MI at the age of 37. My doctor put me on Zetia last year. It doesn't seem to help one way or the other, but neither did Lipitor. But this article was very helpful in understanding just what Zetia is supposed to do

My cardiologist expressed concern and plans to wean me off it--I have muscle pain in my arms and liver enzymes were elevated--I was on Zetia alone for 4 months but am now back on Crestor and Zetia--shoulder and arm muscles continue to ache pretty bad.
