As a physician myself that is all to familar with the Pharmaceutical influence on medical schools and the government, esp. Johns Hopkins and NIH, I would be very careful about any advice you read from this well meaning doctor. Like most, I would not be at all surprised if Dr. Levy here is a 'paid consultant' for BigPharma and using this to peddle useless and dangerous medication for his own profit and personal agenda. Health Buyer Beware! Take everything here with a grain of salt and don't be fooled

Doctors, Drug Companies they all want your money. FDA is on the take. Legal drug pushers. Go natural, eat right, get plenty of sleep and take a walk daily after a few months you will feel much better. I do suggest annual bloodwork.

I am 43, I want to lose weight as well. I went to my doctor to get an understanding of a safe amount of weight to lose a month. I was told about 2-5 pounds a month is safe. Looking at it now, I guess its all about lifestyle, the way you live plays a vital role in ones overall health and mental being.

I agree that you should be careful of the info you get from doc's online. However, if it were not for the internet my daughter may have never been diagnosed with her disease. Her ped's kept saying it was nothing to be concerned about. I finally got fed up and went to WebMD and MayoClinic.com. The following day we were admitted to the hospital and started treatment. This happened again with another issue she had. Again, I was told it was nothing, but this time, I asked 3 doctors and went to WebMD and MayoClinic.com again. Found out what it was and surgery was scheduled within a few weeks. I do trust some of what I read online, but I'm pretty careful about following advice without checking it with a physician. Thank goodness for the internet!

when your physician poopoos any negative appearing study about a drug is this the right person to take advice from. my physician is highly enamored with vytorin and when i question him he says he takes it! he also goes to seminars sponsored by the drug companies that make this drug. i recently stopped taking the drug after the last study came out and i have to say that i am feeling better than when i took the med.
