I'm 70 years old and struggled with hearing loss until 3 years ago - I was getting pretty good at lip reading and pretending I heard so I fooled a lot of people some of the time. My economic situation didn't allow me to purchase hearing aids for a long time - insurance doesn't cover them and Medicare doesn't seem to think that seniors need to be able to hear - so no help there either! I am so grateful to be able to hear again - I still work so it's important to be able to understand others. I live with someone who is very hard of hearing (some times I have to repeat myself 2-3 times) and too proud to admit he needs to use the hearing aids he purchased years ago - he says they are annoying! Well, so are mine but I choose to make the adustment. Thanks for your articles Dr. Levy.
