Depression while grieving for a loss of a loved one also is very dangerous for a particular person. While already depressed, the person has undue stress and trauma compiled by either guilt, loss or both. If the loss is during holidays or just the anniversary of the loss when that specific month or date arrives the depressed person will almost relive the trauma of the loss each year unless they get counsel or eventually move forward somehow. Regardless of the reason for the compiled trauma, help is usually needed to get through that time period. Personal experience in this situation is mine. I am not a doctor, I am a person with this situation. Even with counseling the person still experiences the loss over and over; it is how he/she gets through it each time that is their choice. The person should seek help if it becomes an obsession of reliving or blame of ones self. However, in some cases a change in traditions or venue during that same time of the year is necessary (not going back to the place of the loss in the mind and/or changes in the venue) will untrigger the grief during depression. This being said, the person handles themself better by making changes by choice and ultimately feels better for the choice made. It may become a permanent choice and the persons family or friends need to understand that the person has to make that choice to be completely at peace again with that grief and to keep the grief from becoming exhausting or an obsession they can no longer deal with each year. A strong family support system isn't always the answer for this type person, sometimes the person just needs to stay away from the venue during that time period or forever permanently. Less frequent visits home or to the place that triggers their emotions/grief is completely necessary for them.
