I have found this article to be very useful. It provides vital guidance to a layman about dental care, gum and mouth cleanliness and even the heart and pregnancy problems. I brush twice daily. Now I'm also going to floss at least twice a week. Many thanks to the board of " Your Health Today". Muzaffar Saleem Shaikh

If what you chew sticks to your teeth, beware. It might be sticky in your bloodstream, also. I'm not saying to eat toothpaste!

I am motivated to floss partly because I believe it keeps my breath fresh. Have you ever smelled the dental floss after flossing? All those food particles, if not removed through flossing, end up rotting and smelling bad and staying stuck in your teeth. Yuck. I'm pretty sure flossers have much better breath than non-flossers. My miniature schnauzer developed a heart murmur recently. My vet said that vets at the University of GA have found that a type of bacteria that causes canine gum disease can also cause cardiac problems in dogs. In this case, the bacteria also forms on the valves of the heart causing them to become fouled and thus to not close properly. Yikes! I wonder if there is a similar correlation in humans...

My hygienist convinced me many years ago how important flossing is. I floss daily and have had very few dental issues. Controlling what I eat has been the challenge.
