I find David's columns very enlightening, each and every one of them. Each one has something you can take away and keep inside you to think about making your life better in the years to come. I believe that this blog is one of the best he has ever done, and we all need to take stock to make the most out of the time we have left in this life we are blessed with. Don't sit around and wait for life to happen for you; MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!

GOOO David..that's right don't just sit and wait..get that big wave..but yes definitely define all the things that would sink your ship completely..but be loose, hanging on too tight keeps you from accomplishing some of the things you dream...limits, but make them higher than the fence in the backyard, closer to the highest vaulted ceiling in your house :-) When i put my dreams into perspective i have to finish them one at a time, i know thats crazy, but some of my dreams take consistency..consistent hard work, an open mind and a free spirit! Knowing what you define as freedom is tres important..Risk does give you a kick..an eye opener...Defining stupid solves most of the problems that come with following your dream, BUT remember some will try to hold you back, if you know you can do it, and that there are others that support you in it..GO FOR IT!!!

even if it seems pointless, i do something every day to keep my dreams alive while i try to make them a reality. having the inspiration and drive to go after your dreams is really half the battle. having the smarts to determine what to risk and what to be patient about is the other half of it. every choice you make shows your power or your resignation from it when you avoid what you really want in life.

I pay close attention to my dreams and they have helped me find out so much. I'm thanful for the ability to remember and interpret them. I think everyone should look into what their dreams are telling them. Those who listen become wise.

While I lay blissfully dreaming, Thunder shook me to an upright position and all the night turned white. I heard an explosion and realized we had been hit by lightening. Fortunately, we had a well rehearsed evacuation plan and we all escaped safely. So we are experiencing "technical difficulties". I never expected to go back to living in the tipi, but I am grateful for my family's survival. To all, its been grand, but my attention goes into regrouping and rebuiding. Enjoy the gift of this life's journey. Peace.

hmmm... I was just talking to another dear poster about this exact same thing the other day!! LOLOL No doubt in my mind.. if you have a dream... build it, take some risks, and have FAITH and ignore all other distractions and nay sayers, it will definitely work out!! I have seen it happen over and over again, to others and myself!!

#8.. ricecake... great idea! Planning to do little something every day would also keep our minds on it. (it's easy to drift away from our life's dreams cuz we put it off until later...) A great book along that line is "Good Things Happen to Good People"... (I know you're an avid reader!!)

Dave, nice thoughts especially noting the need to define risk and stupid. And that those definitions vary according to the individual. Sometimes it's hard to "dream big" because of the perceived risks, or obstacles which would make overreaching stupid. Unfortunately, when one recognizes the limitiations one has and tries to work within them, or to remove them, before "dreaming big", many tend to label you as negative, cynical or pessimistic. It's too bad that people feel the need to judge even other peoples' dreams.
