David..i am a sports fan and TOUCHDOWN with this message. I have practiced with some of the BEST yoga instructors and i have learned that it is my mind for sure that does it all. All my muscles and flexibility do is help me achieve what the mind has set to do...the mind and breath calm me in the most uncomfortable positions, whether it be in class, in traffic, in a tough life situation. Getting in "THE ZONE" is what you are talking about right now..where all you are at is NOW, and nothing else going on distracts you..Yoga is amazing, yoga has changed my life..I'm the 1st to admit it to all my running and biking friends. I have gained strength, courage and grace. That which i have never found anywhere in the worldly aspects. Going within to offer anything on the outside has been a real beautiful thing for me and all those around me. I love all your points #1 true to thyself..#2 Nothing affects all you senses better than being IN THE MOMENT..Owning it! #3 Surrendering our ego, surrendering all "the control we think we have" and just melting into the PRESENT. Nothing like seeing a 3 pointer in the finals with everyone whooping and hollering..the intentness of the player if you will. Most Awesome!

What exactly is "neurofeedback?" Is that any activity that quiets the mind? Or is yoga the best way to achieve this?

Love this! Just think what a statement like this from Tom Brady and pointing it out by you, can do for all the athletes and/or men who think yoga is beneath them in some way. The masses have an uninformed idea of what yoga is and what it can do for all of us. Good work!

Look within..I like this point. "Never listen to other peoples expectations, Live your own life" ..so sound and solid. Goes hand in hand with what my Lita ( latin for Abolita,aka...grandma) she said." opinons are like a$$ holes, everyone has one and they sometimes stink, but you just accept this" I love her..LIVE YOUR OWN EXPECTATIONS!! PEACE OUT YALL..

I suppose that it's only natural for we impatient Westerners to bring technology into the quest for "Mushin" or meditative 'no-mind'. While neurofeedback technically refers to any technique, device or practice that allows the user conscious awareness of one's own neural activity, the context here refers to meditative practices which use machines to monitor neural activity. It brings up a fascinating question: while the use of such a crutch can allow those with shorter attention spans and less discipline (such as my humble self) to achieve at least a certain level of meditative skill, how many users will abandon the practice when (not if) they reach a plateau which cannot be surmounted without relinquishing the crutch? Still, it would be a delightful addition to the local 24-hour gym, would it not? Exercising the mind and spirit with a neurofeedback machine to relax and de-stress...

Ahhhhhh!!! The power of intention! Amen to getting in the zone, hireland!!! Moving mountains is possible and getting to the point of not "choking" at a stressful moment is a good place to start. How about those people who can move objects by just intending to do so. Or the people who can walk on hot coals or break bricks with their bare hands. Excercise your mental capabilities everyone. Use the ego as the tool it is. don't let it have control. It thinks it is everything and it is only a very small part of us.

I've had "biofeedback" performed on me by a neurologist... so I wonder if that constitutes "neuro-biofeedback"? LOL!

Conscious relaxation is the great and beautiful paradox. Counter to instinct, by relaxing we can stretch further. Upon release the stretched body part invites the flow of freshly oxagenated blood. Let go and surrender to be revitalized.
