This article is very good at stating the dangers of high blood pressure but the part I disagree with is the statement that 120/80 is prehypertension. This has always been considered as average and normal blood pressure where as 140/90 was considered prehypertension. . It bothers me that as more and more drugs are invented that the numbers used to show our health seem to be changing. Ever since statins came into the picture ( which are good drugs ) the level of what is considered bad cholesterol has dropped considerably. Now the numbers for blood pressure is changing. When will it stop?

I am 54 years old. Last 9th January 2008 my blood pressure was measured and found it 160/100. then after a week I went to docotors for investigation. In Govt Hospital they found I have blood pressure but given treatment for gastric. (Zentek 1x2). But after a week again doctor found 150/90. Now I am taking pill Lisinopril 5mg. results are 140/85 or 150/90 or 130/85 after every 4 days. I wan to know what should be next steps to keep control of my BP. Thanks
