re breast cancer self exams: DO IT SISTERS ! I have noticed the trend to minimize self exams. Mammograms are best according to many doctors.... I am here to tell you that I discovered a lump. It was not picked up on a mammogram...I have never had an abnormal mammogram. I was treated for my cancer with surgery, chemo and radiation and now adjuvant therapy. Take care of yourselves. Trust yourselves

I saw on Good Morning America that there is a tool designed to help a woman give a breast exam. It acts as a magnifying glass for your fingers to detect any abnormality which can lead to early detection and a better chance of a cure for breast cancer. They said to go into any Curves during the month of October 2008 to receive your free Olivia Aid Breast kit with complimentary fitness assessment. I saw it on liv.com. It was designed by Olivia Newton John. Laura I am going to try to go to Curves this week.

Hello folks! I find this article very informative in a sense that if a woman is at risk of developing breast mass ( probably going to be a cancer ), then she will have a first stage treatment and will know what to do keep herself healthier..Awareness on this matter is very helpful..I myself believe on the saying that prevention is better that cure..

Not everyone gets a lump so this can be deceiving, I had a very tender area on the side of my breast and waited for it to get better, After my Dr sent me for a mammogram reluctantly, I was found to have Ductal Cancer in Situ. I have since Had a Double Mastectomy. Please gat a mammogram.!!!

I don't know. I've heard that these self examinations really don't do a whole lot to help with things. That was a medical article I had read. They said something about it not being effective enough or something like that. But I do get mammograms every year, and that's a good thing!!!

Ladies... self examination is the best method... who knows your breasts better than you!!?? I believe even more effective than the vise-like mammogram that I hear is uncomfortable (painful) at worst and suspect at best.
