My mother is studing a master on healthy living, so the whole family is changing the food we eat and the way we take care of ourselves. Your blog is really interesting and helpful. Thanks!

All of this gets more and more confusing by the minute. At one time I thought I had the hang of it all by not eating bread that wasn't either "whole grain" or "whole wheat". I now know this is not to be the case.

so... you're supposed to eat a handful of barley with a side of wild rice? can i pick that up at the 7-11? how long will it be before bird food finds its way to the bread aisle?

I enjoy reading many of the articles posted here, but this one like many, only seems to be half there. More information would be welcome. Also the person who posted that everyone is different is correct. Most dieting is really common sense. Eat a variety of foods (hopefully not all of them loaded with fats and sugars), eat small portions, and always be mindful of what you eat. That means no mindless chip dipping while watching T.V. Exercise as well, but enjoy your life most of all. Listen to your body, it will tell which foods harm you and which don't.

I agree that it would be helpful to have some suggested items you could pick up at the grocery store listed here. In any case, I had whole-grains (no enriched flour) on my cancer diet over a decade ago and whole-grains are even more emphasized for current patients. I try to find whole grain items that are tasty and truly whole grain but it's not easy!
