i typically take all bad advice with a grain of salt. when it comes to the fda, other gov't agencies, pharmaceutical agencies, the medical community, i rarely listen to the wisdom they have to share. usually, the opposite of what they say is likely to be true. i'm amazed to finally see a little skepticism in the medical field about the fda's impotency to put forth a real, conclusive result with their disregard of the facts. that they couldn't "find scientific evidence" after going through 100 scientific publications means they aren't even attempting to do their job. what are they looking at? issues of astronomy today? nice to see a dr. finally speak out against the fda for a change. maybe we should call on them to start doing their jobs for a change instead of allowing them to give us these comical, inconclusive results as something legitimate. maybe we should call on them to be fired for information they didn't care to find. were they researching the astrology section too? i'm sure they researched "the scientific publications" really hard. when are you going to realize, the fda doesn't care about the health of americans? it doesn't care about the benefits of tea. it just cares about misleading all of us down the path to drugs and drugs and drugs. i too will keep drinking tea and ignoring the propaganda that comes my way.

can you get the same benefits from green tea extract supplements, i.e., pills?

6: you're going to get more benefits drinking it in its natural form than taking it in a pill form. from what i have heard, the green tea extract supplements are only a gimmick for helping with weight loss management though they may contain some healthy ingredients in them. i don't think they do anything comparable to what an actual cup of green tea would do in the way of helping the arteries, the cholesterol, the heart, the skin, the lungs, being antiviral and antibacterial in its liquid form. i just haven't read anything so far yet stating that it's just as potent as drinking tea. maybe someone else has heard something to the contrary.

GREEN TEA IS GOOD. I BELIEVE THAT ANYTHING THAT HAS GOOD VITIMANS, OR FIBER, IS GOOD FOR DIET AND HEALTH.

10: any brand of green tea is good. i just heard that when you drink it decaffeinated you get less of the benefits because the processing washes away some of the catechins, and polyphenols etc. that would've stayed in there otherwise. try and drink it caffeinated if you can. also, don't drink instant tea. instant tea has nothing in it. drink it via tea bag.

#11.. that is true!! decaffeinated takes away a lot of the good qualities of any tea, but still gives you some of the benefits. The only problem with tea is it is not good for the teeth. Takes the enamel off if you drink too much. It is good to brush your teeth after drinking it.

gilteegirl, i didn't know that it could take the enamel off of your teeth if you drank too much tea. just heard that it stained the teeth if you drank too much of it. do you know if that could that make a person more sensitive to hot and cold foods and drinks if that ever happened?

ANY KIND OF GREEN TEA IS GOOD. IT'S ALSO GOOD FOR TEETH BECAUSE IT CONTAINS FLUORIDE WHICH WHITENS TEETH.

I have found since I started drinking green tea my cravings for diet soft drinks and coffee ceased completely. I have found the most wonderful tasting teas from Taiwan, both green and Oolong teas,Superb. I will continue to drink them ever if there are no benefits found. They make me happy and are delicious. It takes some times to learn the trade of making perfect hot tea from green or Oolong. But its worth the effort. And im glad I took the time and effort to learn the techniques. Benny
