this is a good reason to join weight watchers. I am very much in favor of eating healthy and organic, and have manage my weight by participating in weight watchers meetings every week. My sisters and I walk five days a week, and eat breakfast together. We have all lost weight, and I have lost 35 pounds. It has been a life style change, and it wasn't easy at first, but we have eachothers support, and by following the weight watchers healthy guidelines we are close to reaching and maintaining our goal weights. I am going to make a copy of this article and give to the women at our weight watchers meeting today.

tHANKS FOR THE REMINDER. EXCELLENT AND HELPFUL TOPIC. ANYWAY, I HAVE FRIENDS THAT GAIN WEIGHT AFTER TEN YEARS KNOWING THEM. I'VE SEEN THIER EATING HABITS AND LIFESTYLE. TRIED NOT TO JUDGE THEM-COZ NOT WANT TO HURT THIER FEELINGS .ALL I CAN DO --SHOWING THEM OF WHO I AM IN ACTION;SELF DISCIPLINE IN FOOD,EXERCISE,AND LIFESTYLE.AT 43 YRS OLD-I FELT GOOD, ENERGENIC THAN EVER BY EATING ONLY WHEN NEEDED AND ONLY ENOUGH TO SATISFY MY HUNGER. tHANKS!!!!

This article is so true! Your friends and social activities can influence bad eating behavior. marie h has a very good point. WW has been the key to losing weight and eating healthy, as well as encouraging exercising and other healthy habits for me. My mother and I attend meetings together and share recipes. My best friend and I also encourage one another to keep on keepin on. Friends and family can be your worst enemy when it comes to food. The best thing you can do is to be firm and that is so hard for me. I love to snack, and my hubby wants me to eat with him... in bed... at night.... in front of the tv. I have learned to say NO! I am almost 40, and I refuse to let myself go. I want to look good, but most importantly I want to feel good mentally, physically, and emotionally. I WANT to be healthy.

Interesting hypothesis BUT, I find that EATING POORLY makes me fat! By poorly I mean too much sugar, especially sugar/ fat combinations like cookies and cakes OR "junk" like salty snacks (crisps they're called in England; corn chips, nachos, whatever they're called everywhere else!; cocktail "nuts" usually covered with a salty batter). And being too sedentary, such as sitting on the internet for hours instead of taking a walk or attacking the overgrowth in the garden. I could lose 20 pounds to be my "ideal" weight.

What nonsense! Nobody WANTS to be fat! We are gaining more and more weight as a society because we are eating more and more garbage in the standard American diet.
