Yeah but who wants to go through life with diabetes or chest pain or being out of breath from going up the stairs? I'm sorry but I'd rather live a short healthy life than a longer life full of pain and fear.

The last paragraph contradicted all of the ones above it. This just leaves us more confused. The studies all seem to have the same conclusion, BUT..... they are trying to find a way to qualify it so it isn't true? While reading it, I said to my husband, "you'd better put on a few lbs" (he's slim), & by the time I finished it, I had to say, "nevermind." I don't know what to think!?!

I found this article very interesting. Now I do not feel as bad about being overweight. I eat my fruit and veggies, and so does my husband, but we are both overweight. It is nice to read something that doesn't say I will die because of it. That sounds like an interesting study. My husband and I are both on statons to lower out cholesterol. I am on high blood pressure medication. Other wise we both feel fine. Sincerely, Jackie

I would like to see a study of women, too, please. What's "slightly heavy" in women by height and age, please?

Extremely helpful article. Here's an equally useful rule on obesity and weight loss: "Never eat more than you can lift. - Miss Piggy" ___ How often do you feel unwell? That's too often... http://www.wellnessaid.com

Could it be possible that the obese person doesn't worry as much about their illness. Stress over whether you eat something that might raise your chloeresterol (sp?) will raise your numbers, Maybe we worry too much about being "healthy" that we become unhealthy. My sister die 2 years ago. ht 5.5 wt 110 , less than 2 years after a bypass. I'm same ht but weigh now 240. I had a bypass in 6 month before she did. I've always bee heavier than she was and have always been heavier. I acknowledge that I'm probably way too fat, but I have always had extreme trouble losing wt. Only time was after the bypass. (basically slleep and had oxgyn for the better part of 2 wks -lost 25 pounds with no trouble. But === according to the test my thyroid is normal . Lost 3 pregnacies until they gave me took extremely high does of armour thyroid 5 gr to have my children, teeth went bad from innside out. Just and idea maybee all the chemicals we put into people to keep them alive really kills them. I basically won't take most medicine as it is TOXIC in actual chemical make up or what it does to our bodies like some of the statin type medicines.
