As a holistic physician, I agree with the potential complications with chelation as it is much too harsh on the organs of elimination (ie kidneys). HOWEVER, I completely disagree with Dr. Weil's statement that Multiple Sclerosis has no association with heavy metals. Based on what? Tell that to my MS patients and others with autoimmune diseases that all had some underlying heavy metal toxicity, either mercury or alumnium. Routine lab testing/bloodwork won't pick this up so need other advanced testing. Everyone with MS, autoimmune disease and cancer that I have ever cared for has two things in common that keep the immune system in a weakened state. First there is an underlying heavy metal toxicity..usually from dental fillings. Everyone needs a good holistic dentist that recognizes this as even the porcelian fillings have lots of alumnium. And second, there is usually always a very deep and chronic immune challenge affecting the organ or glandular system..virus or parasites show up the most. I am one of only 200 doctors that have the tools to find things beyond what conventional medicine can do. With that I understand that it is not Dr. Weil's fault for not knowing this but one day hopefully he will...for the sake of all with MS reading his post looking for real answers.

Before you go an judge chelation on the fact it isn;t associated with Multiple sclerosis, and other diseases, Did you know that DRs don't even know what MS is! they claim its an autoimmune disease, but thats just a guess did you know some Scientists study autoimmune diseases and find out that there was bacteria, parasites or a virus that was actually hiding in the cells of whatever your immune system was attacking, of course even with proof the CDC and other government agencies ignore what those scientists have proven. So before you judge chelation I would be looking into these "unknown" diseases.

It is a shame that there are those who, for the sake of promoting their pseudo-science, have such an easy time posting their misinformation. The NYHOLISTICDOCTOR listed above even has to post his opinion twice to try to convince folks of his fringe beliefs. Fact is: There has been no substantiated link to mercury or aluminum in fillings having an adverse effect on health. Look for your self- but look for reputible sourses. Sure, there are those fringe studies that will point to whatever these fringe doctors want to promote....this would be their unsubstantiated tratments that prey upon the desparate and naive. Problem is the internet flood of info ALLOWS this misinformation to stand w/ the good ivestigative research. You need large, unbiased studies to prove a hypothesis. Once this heavy-metal toxicity plays it's course and they can't snag anymore patients, they will come up w/ some new fear-factor to make their money on while the rest of us listen to the tried and true. So I will retain my fillings and cook in an aluminum pan and God willing, continue to enjoy my good health. Unfortunately my blood pressure only goes up when I read misinformation from the fringe who seriously undermine what quality medicine and research is all about. Good thing he is 'only one of 200 Doctors' as he says.

rotsaruk...I may be only one of 200 physicians that SAFELY removes heavy metals but I am certainly just one of thousands that understand the cause and effect relationship. Before clinical practice I was involved in research at NIH for many years. The politics and strengths of the ADA and FDA keep the public in the dark. Could you imagine the class action lawsuits? I personally know of several hundred dentists that recognize this real danger. A highly respected dental organization called the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology is a great place for the science and be sure to check out the 'Smoking Tooth' video showing mercury vapors coming off the fillings. This is not pseudo-science but a very real problem that I have spent 10 years investigating. The studies most people here about that mercury is safe have only been done on cadavers and not on living breathing people. Cadavers don't chew food creating heat and friction nor do they drink hot beverages which is when mercury vapor is released. The real pseudo science is created by the major political organizations that people blindly trust with their health. Often times people will have to suffer with their health before they seek out effective options and come to this realization. So be it. http://www.iaomt.org/ http://www.wholebodydentistry.com/politicspoison.php http://www.wholebodymed.com/thescience.php

I completely agree with you nyholisticdoctor. As a dental assistant that worked for a conventional dentist for many years I was diagnosed with mercury poisoning and my levels were super high. It started when I started developing dizziness and migraine headaches. All the specialists and medical doctors I went too didn't know what was wrong with me and could not help me. It was another dentist that suggested I get checked for heavy metal toxicity based on my line of work and being near it. I have even heard of dentists here in california having to retire early because of parkinson like tremors in their hands due to long time mercury exposure. Pretty scary! I am much better after chelation and vitamin therapy but still have a few months to go and my heavy metal values are going down. I also agree that everyone should see the video you mention as several dentists had me watch this a couple of years ago. Everyone needs to go here and watch this http://iaomt.org/videos/
