I was diagnosed Sept 24th with ovarian cancer. I had a negative Ct scan and ultrasound. Because of the pain my doctor was aggressive and recommended larpascopy surgery and I'm glad he did. The surgery was very uneventful but my pathology on my left ovary was positive. If you have difficulty standing up straight with pain in our pelvis. Swollen ingunial lymph nodes, fatigue and all that dr weil listed please go to your doctor. I'm staged so far at a stage 1. More surgery to come a supercervical hysterectomy but hopefully it caught early enough. Listen to your body. Pain is not normal not for long periods of time. God bless! Buttany@yahoo.com

I have all the symptoms for ovarian cancer but the blood test came back negative, thank God. My aunt died about 2 years ago as a result of this cancer so I am very aware of the horrors of this disease. My husband is uncircumcized, too, and I heard that this can contribute to certain cancers. I have a terrible fear of getting this disease. My aunt's daughter went so far as to have her uterus and ovaries removed so that she would not have to worry about this type of cancer...I have not gotten to this point even though I am 57 years old, menopausal with uterus and ovaries still intact. We need to be vigilant about trying to raise the money for cancer research so that one day our daughters will not have to worry about going through the effects of this disease, not to mention the treatments.

I just lost my wife this past Jan 2007, from this terrible disease that is in my opinion, worst than heart disease that we hear so much about. I feel we should do more in making women aware of this cancer. When my wife was alive we made contributions to several ovarian cancer awareness organizations, but I am not sure if they are still around. All of the folks need funds to keep them around. I urge everyone to contribute to one of these programs with the hope that more and more women become aware of this disease. God Bless all!

My daughter was finally diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer in 1991. She had those symptoms, but didn't see a doctor about them until 3 mos. later, and had the surgery immediately to get the diagnosis. She survived seven and a half years. It spread to lymph glands in her neck, the fluid around her heart and of course, her lungs. She had all the chemo that was available before 1998 and radiation on her abdomen and neck. She was a fighter, but died at the age of 31. Thank you for bringing these symptoms to the public. Doctors still have a hard time believing that someone so young (24) could possibly have ovarian cancer. Women of all ages need to be aware of these symptoms! LB in Kansas

Do women survive a few or a number of years after diagnosis with stage 3 ovarian cancer. A friend of mine has been going through a lot of treatments and my hopes are high, but I know they took her spleen out after a long surgery. Thank You

I read somewhere that if you had a tuble ligation your chances of having ovarian cancer are slimmer.

Singapore aged 40s and below 45, I took out my reproductive system in early 2006 as my gynae said he suspected that I hve cancer cells in my reproductive organs, But he left my ovaries intact to let no further complications arrive. After the surgery to remove it, I found that its false alarm only that cancer cell on the surface of the baby making container. UPset but unreversible i now live with no womb and feels ok,but felt sad that the gynae could have spared me the agony of loosing my womb as i have few more years more of productive baby making and never had the chance to reconceive or have any womb since the op.sad sad sad

I think its time for me to find a new doctor! Reason- I went in for my allergy shots and they said it was ok for me to get the flu shot along with it two days later I had to go in because i came down deathly ill the hour after my shots and started having weesing in my chest. I told them I was allergic to eggs (egg whites). they gave me 5 days of leviqin 750 mg. and then took blood work and CA-125 test was one of the test that they where suppose to run ;however, there main concern was to second guess my allergist and check my food allergies, and they told me that I was not allergic that I had to be above the level of 0.35 and I was at that level and not above so Im not allergic . I do not understand none of what is going on. Then he looked at my blood work and told me I was not diabetic and I was diagnosed with diabetes last feb. and have been on medication since then. My regular doctor usually takes more time and never treats me in this rude manner. But this CA-125 test was not done and my blood sugar goes down to were I will pass out and up to 206 so far that I know of. I am really concerned that some doctor are not for the patient anymore. Just a pay check. Even when I could work I did all I could do to make sure my job was done well. Even when Iwas burned out. Doctors take a oath "do no harm" and I do not understand why they even bother unless it is to stay in the social standards, and or money. I asked to see a specialist and I want to have my questions answered. I also want to change my allergy shots back to another allergy and asthma center but I want to keep my regular allergist that works in another city. I changed most of my doctors about 5 years ago because of location and ability to get seem when sick. But I see that my health is taking a hit along with my mind. I do not know what to think about the last visits that I have had. I ask my doctors questions and I expect answers or away to find out what is happening to my body. I also know now I'm not suppose to get flu, mmr. other shots with my allergy shot according to the documentation that my allergy center gave me; however the doctor I saw today said I was wrong. I read it again when I got home and had to family members to read it to see if I had lost my mind. I have not yet! Is it true when you change from a large city doctors to small town doctors your taking a chance on your life ? I have many health problems and I get tired of going to doctors and when I go to the big city docs they have me in the office so often I can't afford the transportation. But if I keep going this route I think I will not have to worry about it. I beleive they are going to kill me with medications or the lack of.

It was only after 6 months of treatments for irritable bowel syndrome, by her ob-gyne doctor and her internist, and getting steadily worse, that my 38 yr old daughter went to a gastroenterologist and was diagnosed with ovarian cancer after only one visit and a CatScan. Please women, watch for bloating, constipation, abdominal discomfort, and tell your daughters and friends as well, to be aware and your own best advocate to get the best medical doctors and care you can,if your symptoms do not improve in a short time. Keep going if you sense things just aren't right inside. Do not think the doctors know everything, trust yourself. My daughter is now Stage 4, with cancer in her bones, liver, and lung, and these last 4 years have been so difficult for her. I don't want any other woman to have to go through this terrible ordeal.

I had all of the mentioned symptoms this time last year. I was very fortunate that they seemed menstrual and therefor went directly to my gynocologist with my complaints. She wasted no time in performing a pelvic exam, CA-125 test and referred me for a vaginal ultrasound. As frightened as I was, she pointed me in the right direction. I was very blessed to discover that it was NOT cancer but a large cyst on my ovary. I have since had my left ovary and fallopian tube removed. My reason for posting is to say please investigate significant changes in your body with an open mind and be persistant. No one, not even your doctor, is as invested in your health as you. It may turn out better than you had hoped.

i have lower right abdominal pain, spotting and painful intercourse. I am 49, hysterectomy in 1987. 4 months ago I went to the urgent care with these symptoms. Dr said he could not find anything so he thought it was a cyst on my ovaries. I went to the Dr today and she told me that according to the tests 4 months ago at the urgent care, i had blood in my urine and an oversized right ovary. I am scheduled for an ultrasound on Friday. I am concerned. Help!
