There are ways to plan ahead so that you don't have to rely on the fast food circuit. I went through the lonestartnow program a couple of years ago and lost 60 pounds. That isn’t what I am here to say though. I learned how to prepare healthy meals so that there would be leftovers (you do have to take a little responsibility for not getting seconds) that were turned into lunch for the next couple of days. I fixed my lunch the night before so I wouldn’t use the “I ran out of time in the morning” excuse (I fixed my two children’s lunch at the same time). Breakfast can be so easy…how long does it take to fry an egg in a touch of smart balance? I guess my long winded point is – If you plan ahead you can eat healthy, and tasty meals. Add this to getting a little extra activity out of each day…who knows? If, however, you do go through a drive through (you should really get out and go in…it gives you that little bit of extra activity…it all adds up) there are healthy choices! Bon apatite!

honestly, what you eat doesn't matter as how much you eat. I am a ballet dancer and need to stay very skinny, but that doesn't mean i only eat fruits and vegetables. You can eat pretty mucha anything you want as long as you don't have it every day and you don't have too much of it.

It really is about moderation. I like the low-fat healthier selections available in fast food restaurants but try not to eat in those places often. FRIES are too tempting for me...(-:

How do you know that the calorie count on some of the food you are eating is accurate? I've read too many articles about products with food labels understating their calorie count. I don't understand how they get away with this, but they do. If something is too good to be true, it probably is.

desirebystarlight, you might find www.nutritiondata.com helpful. i know i do. i like this site, because you can input virtually any food and get facts about it, from produce to cereal to cookies. it also has pros and cons for most foods, as well as other important factors of each food. it's very easy to use, and i hope this helps you as much as it helps me.

A while back, Oprah had a Dr on that said there are 5 ingredients you should not eat. I made the effort, but it really was very easy. Try to eliminate-partially hydronated oil, saturated fat, high fructose corn syrup, sugar and enriched flour. It really is not that hard. If you live by a Trader Joes or other health food store-they kinda do it for you. Also he states 30 minutes a day of activity. Turning 40 for me was the motivation, I have lost 25 pounds and I didnt diet. Now I am pretty laxed in my eating, but during the work week I try to stick to the above, but I can really eat whatever. I am not a drive thru kinda person, really dont want to spend money on that, I would rather buy a new shirt-but once a week my co-workers buy out-a great treat. Try to find the Oprah info. It is great.

Having worked in a restaurant - I've seen what they use to "grill" the chicken - you need to make sure you ask for it to be grilled without butter or you might as well fry it!

When I really crave a burger instead of a salad, I order a kids meal. I get my burger and fries fix but with a lot fewer calories. Plus, it's really the right portion size for me a 5'6" female.
