i think its very possible, try to get him to choose less fatning stuff to eat, if you cook for him that will be easy you can do that,if you dont cook for him then maybe you should start. Eating right is ussually the first place to start.

Fall time is the beginning of the worst for me. I get depressed without the sun and my food in-take grows, I do less active things and always gain weight in the fall and winter. When spring comes I feel like a blimp. I feel like I turn into a bear come fall. What can I do to change this? Please help!

As a CDE, I would like to address the lowering of HBA blood sugar reading. The best place to start is a 10% weight loss, eating a sensible diet of around 1500 to 1800 calories. Eliminate simple sugars as much as possible, don;t be afraid of a few servings of fruit per day, increase your vegies etc. There is no such thing as a diabetic diet...just good nutrition. The food I eat is the same as everyone should eat. Again 10% weight loss is not found in pills or cinnamon but what you put in your mouth. Also, move more today than you did yesterday. If anyone has specific diabetic questions, I will try to answer. If you want my credentials, email at dudley206098@email.com. jp

roadrunnerconv69: I believe diabetics know that they need to lose weight, maintain a healthy weight, and eat a sensible diet. That's not a mystery. What they aren't likely to hear from the doctor is that they should add more spices into their diet to help metabolize their sugar level. They aren't going to be told to eat more cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, onions, garlic, or add more whole grains and legumes in the diet. They don't give diabetics much information in they way of starting on a healthy diet to metabolize their imbalanced sugar levels. It is a proven fact that diabetics who took 1/4 tsp to 1 tsp of ground cinnamon a day improved their glucose levels, and it even helped others improve cholesterol levels. How a diabetic combines their food is more important than how a nondiabetic does. For instance, they should be putting legumes in their soup or a healthy whole grain like quinoa or amaranth versus egg noodles or white rice. They might be cooking a recipe with stevia instead of using the full amount of sugar. Don't say there is no such thing as a diabetic diet, only good nutrition. There's an art to seasoning food, food combining, cooking, and baking for the diabetic that is completely different than a person who is not diabetic. Both can be eating healthy diets and good nutritionally, but in a completely different way.

i think medications can inhibit one's ability to lose weight. some actually make you gain weight, hold water, and do terrible things to your system that make it next to impossible to drop more than a few pounds. it doesn't matter the how healthy the food, how much you exercise, because the medicine is still a factor in the diet preventing weight loss.

pcos can lead to diabetes, I caught it on time visiting an endocrynologist and being tested for insuline, glucose, male hormone levels. I started being suspicious since I couldn´t lose my post pregnancy weight even though I ate healthy and watched my calories, besides I was losing hair in my head and getting some on my legs and face. Get tested. It´s frustrating to diet and not lose weight, the abnormal hormone levels can make you feel depressed, or angry and it could look as normal if you are frustrated, but it may not be. Pcos can be triggered by hormonal changes, mine was because of the pregnancies. I´m medicated by my doctor and my insuline levels are slowly going back to normal, the weight is coming off just by my regular healthy eating habits: fish, chicken breast, oatmeal, low fat milk, veggies, fruits, yoghurt and whole grain rice and pasta.
