Seedless Grapes and cherry tomatoes are also great snacks...better than eating candy!

i like what you are saying i'm a kid but i think you should make recipesthat kids can hve fun doing but won't be just a snack of carrots. that would be funner and more creative!

I get what you are saying, but what if your child does not like rice cakes or some of the other things that you said?

Great list! Can't wait to try them out. Kids these days are full of the easy to eat, sugar packed snacks that they can munch by the TV or computer, so these are quick to make, and my favorite, healthy!

Tiffany, sweetheart, I'm sure you are beautiful! 140 lbs is not overly big - if you want to "trim up" you should add exercise to your day. A 45 minuter BRISK walk EVERY DAY will make you feel better AND knock off those pesky pounds. (start with a 15 minute walk and add 5 minutes each week until you reach 45 if it's too much right away - walk purposefully, so you're breathing heavier, but not panting!) Don't diet - you're too young and you need a variety of foods - but limit junk food. Good luck, sweetie, you can do it!

For Tiffany. 140 is not bad, and you can drop any extra weight. First you should see your doctor, and find out what your healthy weight should be for your age and height. After that pm_shewfelt is right, keeping moving is the best way to lose weight. Is the rest of your family at a healthy weight? If not, maybe you could suggest a family plan to get everyone on track. Joining a gym is a big help if you can afford it, if not there are a lot of exercises you can do at home, or you could join a sports club at school. Stay away from processed sugars and refined flour, except for the occasional treat. Eat several small meals a day, focusing on whole grains, lean protein, fresh fruits and veggies, and be sure to get in lowfat milk, yogurt, and cottage cheese. Stick to diet soda if you have to have it, but water is best. Not eating regular meals will defeat you as your body will think you are starving, and it will store fat instead of burning it. If you can get a workout buddy, either in your own family or a friend, you will be more likely to stick with your plan. Everyone needs support. Be sure to check with your doctor before you start any change in your eating and exercise habits. Sorry to run on, hope this helps!

i'm 14 and i remeber when i was 10 and under and momma was out working in the yard i would get hungry. i would go in the kitchen and i would turn my nose up at snacks that were healthy and they were always out of reach. i suggest to parents to have COLORFUL healthy snakes sitting out in children's reach. that's what i have to do with my little sister when mommas out running some aronds and daddies at work. it works all the time ;)

Children, and healthy adults too don't really need to eat low fat everything, this is really unnatural and unhealthy, especially for the growing bodies and brains.
