I drink herbal teas that I make using distilled water that I make myself using a counter top distilling machine (better than cooking!) I eat only raw fruit (no cooking and portable to eat at any time I am hungry. I eat salads (many different components are possible- keeping it to three- the trick is to not use any dressing - then you can pick up individual pieces with your fingers & it is not messy). Sure, add a LITTLE raw nuts &/or seeds, even a half of an avocado with lemon juice, daily. Raw brocolli fills you up!

Writing down what you eat does work. I use a great product called NutriCook to journal what I eat and I have learned so much. It figures out the Calories and Carbs, Fat and everything - even vitamins for everything I eat, it even calculates recipes so I don't have to guess when I'm cooking something without a package. I have lost over 90 pounds so far and with little effort really - just small changes to portion size and becoming more active. It's cool because with NutriCook, you learn so much about your nutrition and see where if you make this change or that you would be loosing weight. And since I'm still eating basically what I've always eaten as opposed to a diet that is drastically different than what I would choose to eat if I were not on it, I'm learning as I'm loosing how to eat to keep it off. I think writing things down works because it keeps your mind on the goal but unless you are very good at figuring out what each item's calories are (or you are eating only processed foods that have labels)you may be figuring out the calories etc wrong. I know there have been days when I put what I eat into NutriCook and I'm amazed how many more calories I've eaten then I had thought or happily (and yes, this has happened too!) how many fewer calories then I figured. WIth a program like NutriCook, it's a no brainer - just put it in and there are the numbers. After years of dieting and giving up, journaling is finally a way I can make work for me. Hope it works as well for everyone! Good Luck - Be Healthy and Happy!
