I don't understand how writing down what you eat works... I just find it tedious. How do I use what I am writing down to lose the weight?

I have always had a high metabolism so I haven't really ever watched what I ate or really excercized. Once I hit 25 it slowed way down and I started gaining weight. I tried the whole diet thing and found that when I stopped the diet I put the weight right back on. So I started excercizing. I haven't started eating right yet because I love fried foods and sweets. I have found that excercizing has really improved my health. I've started losing weight and I feel much better in general. I have more energy than ever before. I think the key to weight loss is excercize. The thing I have found the hardest is staying with it. I do notice the difference when I stop excercizing. I put on a few pounds and I feel lathargic. Once it becomes part of a lifestyle then it's easy. Good Luck!

I think I will try this, but just for you dieters: My mom went on the Atkins diet, where you count carbs, not calories and she lost over 200 pounds. It's just an idea if nothing else has worked.

I just returned to states as I live in Japan and was dismayed to see how large Americans are getting. In two years I have lost 15 pounds as a result of smaller portion size and walking vs driving everywhere. The combination of less intake and increased activity works. You see very few obese Japanese. It worked for me.

This has been a great help to me. I started 1/9/06 and I write everything I eat in a log book. This discipline has helped me go from 195 to 155. Writing the food intake keeps me focused on what I should and shouldn't eat. Write the food down as you eat it and not at the end of the day. Once you get started it will become a great habit. Best regards.

I tried Weight Watchers and to my suprise it did work. I love chocolate and I could still eat some every day. And honestly I didn't exercise at all or drink water! Give it a try even if you are in doubt. What could you lose besides some weight?? I didn't attend meetings or sign up. I looked at a friend's book at how many points I was allowed and then looked up points on the internet. You can find points for restaurants as well. I never paid a penny.

It is so important to keep a food diray! I joined Lindora last September and I lost 76 pounds. I have gone from a size 26 to a size 12. By writitng down what I eat everyday, makes you so much more aware of what your putting in your body. Weight is one of they hardest things to overcome, but it is so rewarding in the end. I had to learn the "right" way to eat and take realize that I needed to get healthy for me. Good Luck to everyone, I wish you nothing but the the best.

I lost 70 pounds writing down everything BEFORE I ate it. There was nothing off limits, just the commitment to myself to write it down before putting in my mouth. Worked well for me, I hope it will work for others.
