To janmac02 and joanbev13: Omega 3 fatty acids include ALA, EPA, and DHA. Of these, EPA and DHA have proven to be the most beneficial. ALA is converted to EPA and DHA by the body but at a relatively low percentage. Fish is the best source of EPA and DHA, while flax seed oil contains mostly ALA. Thus, I would recommend taking fish oil supplements. One must be careful to by molecularly distilled oil that is certified to be free of heavy metals and other toxins, and as long as you don't consume oil from fish livers (e.g. cod liver oil) you won't have to worry about consuming too much vitamin A. Some supplements do contain vitamin E as well, and one should be careful not to consume too much, as it high levels of vitamin E have proven to be harmful. Though, omega 3 fatty acids do decrease the blood level of vitamin E and taking a small amount of it with fish oil is a good idea. Hope this helps!

I take both Flax oil and fish oil. I would recommend buying fish oil produced in one of the nordic countries, the U.S. doesn't have strong enough production standards. You should take a fish oil that is molecularly distilled and produced to pharmacuetical quality standards.

Thank you for the information guys. I'll share this to my friends and my family. We've always been a fish eater because meat is expensive, never thought it could be so healthy. I'd like to add, sleep 8 hours, drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.

Don't get me wrong I am all for organic but most people think organic= healthy. Organic is much better for the environment and there is little to no chance or insecticides/pesticides/herbicides/fertilizers (synthetic) but the nutrient value is equivalent to conventional produce. There is lots of hype with organic meaning healthy....very wrong, nutritionally speaking it is the same in terms of calories, vitamins, fiber, fat etc. Organic is better in terms of fresher and tastier due to limited preservatives allowed (only naturally occuring).

If you are in a rush for breakfast drink a fresh very cold botlle of carrot juice- a great pick-me-up lots of vitamins & no sugar- those energy drinks are horrible with high sugar like sodas. Eat eggs for breakfast everyday instead of a muffin etc--the sugar drags you down--but the protein will not-- your brain will feel the difference & they have proven kids who eat eggs instead of sugar have better memory & do better on tests. Ladies eat a lot of bananas during your monthly cycle--it really makes me feel better & take the Herb Don-Quai--it is truly wonderful. We all need to stay away from read meat & eat more chicken & fish--boy you will feel so much better. Trust me on this I have learned the hard way & don't have too much dairy--you may get kidney stones from calcium build up-- i did--IT HURTS LIKE CRAZY!!

I disagree. I feel that it depends if the person can convert ALA into DHA. I can't do that. I didn't feel that flaxseed oil made any difference on my brain. Cod liver oil made a profound diffrence on my brain. I even became less sensitive so I wasn't very hypersensitive. I have history of Dyslexia,Dyspraxia, and so I really need more DHA than the average person. Dyslexia,Dyspraxia, and AD/HD have been linked Omega 3 fatty acid deficiencies. EPA is found in fish, and it helps with mood. It really does feel like a mood stabilizer for me. I am less emotional from the EPA in the cod liver oil. I think better from the DHA in the cod liver oil. Cod liver oil isn't for everybody, but it is for me. The flaxseed oil is not for me. Therefore flaxseed is not better than Cod liver oil in my case. I am sure that's the case for many others. It really depends on the person's metabolism and how their brains work. I feel that neurodiverse people like me need fish oil/cod liver oil products.
