There are several good soy products such as Soy Ice Cream, veggie cheese, Smart dogs, etc that have no chemicals and are not bad for your health. You must read labels and take your health seriously. There are many organic soy products in the grocery stores like Ingles and Food Lion. Even Stop and Shop has a mini store inside their regular store just for health conscious, concerned consumers.

im 15 and my dad has got me all interested in soy and health now. i totally believe that soy is good for you if you follow the recommended daily in take that is. its like protien for example. protien is good for the body but it doesnt need tons and tons of it. i know people that drink protien shakes in the morning and protien bars at break and protien stuff after sports. its to much. moderation is the key to health. i totally agree with litlebit76. my parents tell me all the time. moderation, moderation! with music, exercise, eating, internet and they are right. yeah there are bunches of articles and sites that say "soy is bad, soy causes this and that" if soy was really bad for you, then doctors/nutritionists wouldnt be telling people that its good in your diet. its like hydrogenated oils. you never hear doctors saying "your low in your hydrogenated oil in take" they tell you not to eat it because its obviously not good for your health and to limit it. thats why these kind of people are here. they arent here to tell us lies. they are here to spread knowledge.

I have read many soy milk labels on UHT cartons and noted that none of them contain calcium as claimed by your article. Strange as it seems that Soy naturally does not contain any calcium at all let alone being rich in it. Those Soy Milk that contain calcium has it added in like vitamins etc i.e. as additives. Pl comment.

If it wasn't for the Natural Health magazine article "The Dark Side of Soy" I'd be dead. Soy almost killed me. It is junk food. The bean has to be so processed to be digestable, it cannot be called anything near "natural." Stay away from it. I used to be the biggest soy advocate, until I suffered so many symptoms from it, when I stopped eating it, the symptoms went away.

Have spent a lot of hours researching foods which are not good for us hypothroid folks. Soy products along with 14 other "good for you" foodstuffs, are not good for us. Very few dieticians seem to be aware of this, and some are offended by being questioned. Have not ever had a physician advise me, during my 18 years on meds. Take care of yourself, and do your own research. I used the public library.

I recently found out that I have an allergy to dairy products so I use soy products and I love them. I have noticed that I have more energy and since I have stayed away from dairy I have lost weight.

I am addicted to Glenny's Soy Chips which are advertised as being Non-GMO soy. Does that make it ok? I'm confused about the controversies on nutrional value of soy-based products.

Soy is very overated! Soy is considered one of the most extreme forms of an oxalate; meaning that it will bind up with other minerals in your body so they cannot be absorbed. Two of the most important minerals that your body needs, zinc and calcium, are hindered with the consumption of soy. The other bad thing about soy is that it increases estrogen levels. Good for certain women, but bad for men. For more negatives about soy: westonaprice.org Soy is about money and it is a business for many companies. Soy is cheap and easy to produce. I still think isoflavones are good but only if isolated. Like #15 said... moderation.

As an RN, know better than rely on HRT so eat 'GoodSense' soynuts 3-4x/wk.Reduces hot flashes/nite sweats 90%. Who knows an organic brand? post-menopausal and are not on hormone replacement therapy, should not increase their soy intake; it may be detrimental to their health.
