Thank you for the information about calories. I've been monitoring them for a year and it really makes a difference. I will now pay closer attention to the amount of fat in the calories.

I am 16 and my weight has been around 140-145 for a while but now it has shot up to about 160 but I find myself being more active now than back then. What do I need to do to get back to 140? What am I doing wrong?

I have probably gained and lost 25 lbs off and on over the years...I am in my 50's..here's what works well for me when I want and need to lose a few lbs: drink water...more than any other liquid...cut out snacks...eat 3 small but" valuable" meals a day,go easy on salt,sugar... fruits, as they have many hidden sugars.Eat much more raw veggies, lean meats, very little red meat, more lean chicken ,turkey, with skin removed.I no longer eat fish because of the mercury in most. Instead, swallow an Omega 3 fish capsule each day,or take a tsp of cod liver oil each day,it is excellent for good overall heath. If you do need sugar, eat the real sugar sparingly as ,"Splenda",and it's likes,as examples are BAD for your health."Splenda"is made from sugar that has been "chlorinated"!(fact) so that is, of course, Poisonous! Be sensible with your eating habits.Try to eat as plainly as you can, sensible foods.Stay away from "white"foods.Eat grains and nuts, brown rice, instead ,sparingly as with most any food to stay on top of things , Exercise moderately, walking is best. Lead as happy a life as you can, workwise, personally and with family and friends. Be your own best friend and be grateful for each day given you to make it better than the one before. And make sure to listen to your body's daily needs: take "power"naps when you feel the need for them..or a little rest when you can...LAUGH and be as happy as you can be with yourself and others! Just be sensible in how you approach "dieting"...it really should be considered "alternative thinking"about how and when and why you use food and liquids. You should remember that important saying: "Eat to live...not: Live to eat" ! Also ,having a basic metabolic test done prior to dieting would teach you which foods are best to eat for you as an idividual human being and how much as well as when. You should always talk to a Dr. about your dieting intentions as you may not know which foods are most beneficial to YOU specifically. Finally, avoid FAD dieting...it never works.

Food is fuel for our bodies. If your going to eat a lot then you'll have work in some extra miles to burn it off. Find your joy in getting your body in good physical shape first, then you can choose the type and amount of fuel to keep it going. You'll soon find out which ones will slow you down and which ones will help or even increase your performance.

I truely believe, that life style change is the key to keep the weight off.I've been on a diet since 2001, and has not reach my goal weight that I desire to be. Because it's a mind game, you really need to stay focus and exercise, change you portions intake and don't give up. Peolpe will discourage you due to the fact that you are looking good, and tell you that you do not need to lose anymore what, but you know your body better than anyone. So my advice to anyone, is to shoot for your goals and not to give up. Prayers do help. Keep the faith, it dose help.
