Well I have a question for all expecially for those who say that the only right way to lose weight is to diet and exercise. What if someone who is extremely over weight has medical reasons why they can not do that? What then should they just sit back and deal with it and all the risks that go along with it? No I do not think so. I myself am overweight and in the middle of setting up a gastric bypass which is a very scary thing to have to go through. actually I want to know how everyone feels about this surgery. I have heard alot of thing good and bad about it. thank you

If your doctor has prescribed a weigh-loss medication and you don't have insurance, take a look at www.rxdrugcard.com. They have a prescripton discount card that's only $4.50 a month and you get a great price on phentermine and other meds.

I have used Xenical for a while now, and combined with a low carb diet it has helped me to lose weight. It amazes me to read the above posts - even here some are trying to sell you their products/programs. Personally, I never had the bowel problems that can be side effect, but I do know some who have and they stopped with the med. About six months ago, I went to see a chiropracter who was also a "Natural Health Practitioner". He admonished me for taking "drugs" with the Xenical, then pointed me to the natural supplements that he sold. Of course he talked about diet and exercize, but also wanted to sell me something. I feel so fed up with constant ads, personal stories which end in something the person sells. Xenical, in combo with lower carbs is what works for my body and I am looking forward to when it is over the counter.

Before taking a diet drug or having surgery, I would recommend that everyone read the book Hypothyroidism Type II by Dr. Mark Starr. I have worked as a nurse for 11 years, and I have seen the drastic health changes associated with proper thyroid function. Many people suffer from hypothyroidism and are not aware. There are several references citied that validate the claims of Dr. Starr. As a nurse, I recommend that those suffering from obesity see an endocrinologist prior to pills or surgery.

Be prepared to have your loved one wipe ... after surgery as you can not twist or reach for weeks. Good luck I think it was worth it I've lost 140 lbs in 20 months with another 40 to go . I tried xenical before & had no bowel issues.

I have taken diet pills that supposed to have caffeine to boost my energy. When I take it, it makes me feel tired and sleepy. I am a coffee drinker and could this be normal for someone who is a coffee drinker to have the opposite reaction to the pill?
