I had gained weight in december 2004 because of the ramadan. I had gained almst 5 kilos, and i came to weigh 55 when my normal weight was 50 kilos. In Jan 2005, i made a promise to myself. I decided to change my habits. Before, I used to walk into the kitchen, grab anything that i found on my way, and id eat it. From Jan on i decided to put an end to the 'eating for entertainment'. at first it was hard, but then i got used to it and it was really a BIG change in my life. i organized myself. First , i joined the gym and started going three times a week for 3 hours each time. I did one hour of aerobics, one hour of spinning, ( that was the hardest thing eever!! that one hour seemed eternal ) , and then the last hour i dedicated to working out my body with exercises like sit ups and leg workouts. Believe me, after one month i had lost three kilos , and i felt so much healthier and stronger! I changed my eatiing habits. instead of going everysingle day for a chocolate bar, I would take a pear ( which i luuv) or an apple. I learnt to eat healthy food like chiken, cheese, turkey, or milk, instead of jumpin strait away on the oreos. The goal is not to leav yourself hungry! the point is to eat varied foods and to eat moderately. MOderation! that IS the SECRET to success. I learnt to eat enough food , but not too much. Its terribly hard to keep away from eating chocolates and nice desserts like pies and brownies, but those things should be consumed with moderation. If you just had luch and you want a piece of the delicious lemon pie that's on the table, go for it, but be wise. Learn how to taste the pie rather than stuff yourself with it. Taste it, dont eat it all just coz its there! Tell yourself that if you dont eat it right then, nothing will happen!!! u wont die! instead, save a small piece for another day. the more you do this, the less you will feel the NEED to eat all the sweet stuff that our mothers make or that's available in Ben and Jerry's . After loosing those five kilos, ( im bac to 50 ) :) i didnt gain any more weight. I learnt to eat a bit of everything;; turkey, chiken, and a sweet once in a while.The trick is to avoid including sweet things like chocolates and pies in ur EVERYDAY lives. Those are things you should have once in a while, whenever you REALLY FEEL your body wants it.Now i allow myself to eat anything i feel like, but in the right amounts and never overdoing it. just to tell you, it is not very easy to gain weight. ( well yes, if you stuff urself with ten pakets of oreos or cookies each day , u can get fat easily):. What i mean is that if you eat healthy and you have a sweet or fatty thing once in a while , u wont become a cow! ul get fat ONLY IF YOU MAKE A HABIT OF IT. To gain one kilo of weight you have to consume a total of 7000 kalories more than what ur body needs. On a daily basis you are supposed to consume 1700 - 2000 kalories ; Ul only gain weight if u consume a lot of extra kalories every single day.to avoid eating while ur studying , go for a tea or a coke light that will not only keep ur weight intact but will also help u concentrate more due to the caffeine. Opt for a turkey sanwhich instead of stuffing urself with unhealthy food or biscuits.
