I've decided that food is no any different than alcohol, or any other drug. They can all become addictive. Weight loss is all about self control. This morning I demonstrated how to make brownies to my 6th grade family and consumer sciences classes. After class I indulged in the left over brownies. I kept telling myself to stop eating, but I still ate way more than I should have. Just like a recovering alcoholic or drug addict, you should not have items in front of you that you have no self-control over. For example a recovering alcholic has no business hanging out in a bar. Don't go where your going to be tempted. Make a conscience effort to avoid places or things that might tempt you, including food. If I'm trying to watch my weight and teach proper nutrition, it would be a good idea for me to show students how to make healthier recipes which include fruits and vegetables. Sweets are okay once in a while, but kids need to know the effects that all those sweets are having on their bodies right now. I will make a conscious effort to include healthier snacks in my lab lesson plans.

It is really easy, folks. If you are fat, DONT EAT AS MUCH! If not, then do whatever you want , as far as eating is concerned!

The most mportant thing for loosing wait is consistency to avoid extra calories. It takes years to shed the pound which you put on within weeks.

It's not as easy as "if you're not fat then eat whatever you want", danogo. As you age, your metabolism changes, and even those whom get by now in their teens and 20's with living on burgers and fries will find to their dismay that they can't continue eating that way when they get older. Aside from your metabolism not handling it well, the other thing is that you need to respect your body no matter what your age and metabolism, and provide it with healthy fuel. A diet of grease, sugar, and empty, processed calories is a health hazard whatever your weight. I suggest to those whom feel smug becaue they are at an ideal weight that they take a moment before they give people the advice that if they're not fat to just eat whatever they want. Regarding the office temptations, I just take it a day at a time. I have a box of cookies that was given to myself and a co-worker as a gift sitting in front of me right now, and I haven't touched it for three days. I just tell myself I'd rather put something healthy into my body that contains valuable nutrition like some fruit or a whole-grain snack instead of a sugar-laden empty-calorie blob of dough when I get tempted to eat one. I DID have a couple the first day we got the gift, but I've held off since then. Didn't kill me to have the two that I did, either. But I'm not going to live off of them every day even though I am at a healthy weight. My body and my health are worth more to me than a cheap sugar-thrill.

If you want to lose weight. Only eat one meal a day also work out at least 4 times a week or more for 30 min or more. spread the time out if you have to just do it. nothing worse then wanting to wear the same out fits as your friends I know. only eat one time a day you will have days when you will have to eat more some time for special days. also if you like candy like me enjoy a piece or two every other day. it takes time it took me 5 Mon's to get weir IM at now I have more to go but it will come with lots&lots of time......

About 3 years ago I started taking off weight. I had decided to divorce my husband and as my friends put it I got a "new men are going to see me naked body". One of the most important rules that I follow is Eat Only What You Like! For example, just because there is free pizza at lunch one day, doesnt mean you have to eat it. Free goodies dont mean yes. Dont eat vegetables that you dont like, you wont stick with it! Find healthy foods you enjoy and eat them. Someone brought in your favorite cookie? Go ahead, and then dont eat the donughts that you dont like. Craving a cupcake from the goodie box? Eat the frosting and pitch the rest (that is the best part anyway). Limit yourself to one goodie a day and make it count!

I disagree with #9. Any nutritionist will tell you to eat more than one meal a day, especially if you're excercising. Eating one meal a day will send your body into starvation, which will deplete your muscle, not your fat. I could never eat once a day, I would be way too hungry. I eat 3 small meals and have a morning and afternoon snack, which is always a small piece of fruit. What are you eating at this one meal a day? My friend is a nutritionist and she told me to eat 1500 calories a day, but never go below 1200 calories. Is this one meal a 1200 calorie meal? I couldn't eat that many calories at once and I'm sure it's not healthy. It boils down to burning more calories than you take in, it's that simple. There is no other formula for weight loss. Measure your portions and watch your calorie intake. You can easily spread 1500 calories throughout your day and have great meals, and still have the occasional unhealthy snack.

To cpraterkprater: Wow, that's awesome that you're losing 2-3 pounds a week. I agree with everything that you said, you really have it all figured out. You should eat what fills you up. Obviously what you are doing is working. I snack on fruit and it doesn't really fill me up, but it takes my mind off food for a little while. I cheated yesterday and had fast food, something I haven't done in 3 months. I felt so sick afterward, my body just doesn't like that junk anymore. It is like a hangover! I have been losing about 2 pounds a week, too. I do count calories, but my exercise routine is similar to yours. Keep up the great work, and good luck to everybody in reaching their weight loss goals!
