If it weren't for insecticides there would be millions more starving than there are now. Also, remember DDT? It was used to kill mosquitoes (sp?) and did a great job, in fact, Malaria was becoming nonexistent, even in Africa. But then a few birds died, so it was banned. Since then millions of people have died from Malaria. But birds are safer.

I think the point of "organic" is the health of the soil, water, and by default, ourselves. If we don't stop using chemical pesticides all over the place, then the land will no longer produce any food. There has to be an end somewhere.

i found that a simple smaller portion of all foods u eat is the best way to lose wait and u dont have to give up nothing.i was told this one time by adoctor and also always lay the fork down in between bites to alow the food to have time to get to the stomach. it takes 29 min. for your stomach to tell your brain it is full..

also organic foods (milk and meats) were not genetically tampered with by the use of hormones that are likely to be linked to such disease as fibroids in females, earlier menstruation over the generations, and other worrisome side effects.

if you are dumb enough to spend more money for the same food, just because they tell you it is ORGANIC, you must have voted for Bush. Just remember, they all get water from the same places, water makes up 80 % of all living things, and all water sources are loaded with manmade pollutants. Put that in your organic pipe and smoke it.

loads of data show organic foods tend to be healthier and of higher nutrition than the conventional. but when it comes to losing weight, i don't think they are useful. EATING HABITS MATTER THE MOST. look at east asians like japanese and chinese and you will get what i'm saying.

I WAS one of many Americans with digestive woes (irritable bowel syndrome.) My doctor gave me pills that did not help at all. I asked about dietary changes and he said that wouldn't make any difference. On my own I checked into eating organicly grown foods and started gradually eliminating conventinally grown foods from my diet. Within a couple of months, many of my symptoms were gone. The fresh produce is very expenxive, but you can buy frozen vegetables that cost less. I have lost weight, have more energy and feel great. I eat less food, too. If you think about all the digestive woes that people have like IBS, acid reflux disease and Krohn's disease maybe it is linked to the chemicals in the foods we eat. Our bodies were made to get our nutrition from plant and animal sources, not the chemicals that we add to them, which I believe is what is causing so many people's health woes. Americans buy food based on price, not on nutritional value. What are you getting for your money - a bunch of empty, useless calories. I am on a VERY limited budget myself but I feel the need to invest in my future health by eating organic whenever possible. If you are a wise consumer, you can do it and your body will thank you for it. Here is alink to an article on the research between organic vs. conventional produce and there is indeed more nutition in organicly grown foods. http://www.organicts.com/organic_info/articles/downloads/organic.pdf

I'm drawn off by organic foods. I think of something I spend so much of my dollars on, and then it hitting my tatsebuds and it being DISGUSTING! I would think "what a waste of money." So, I stay away from organic foods, soy milk, and tofu. I wouldn't mind trying it it, if I knew what to get and what to stay away from due to taste!

Conventionally grown crops can damage ecosystems. The chemicals used in conventional grown crops have killed insects that are vital to the ecosystem where plants grow. If conventional farmers take further care and do further research then they will find a perfect balance between their crops and the earth, like organic farmers have. Think about it. How did agriculture work before chemicals were used? All we have to do is listen to the earth. May seem very new agey but it works. The earth knows how to take care of itself. If we treat the earth as something artificial and as an object then we are planning our own death wishes. Organic crops are products of the earth. And if we listen to the earth then we listen to our needs and listen to our survival.
