My problem with this is that peanuts are legumes, not nuts! When will people, specially those who should know best, stop passing off peanuts as nuts?

If you are going to talk about nutrition, you need to know what you are talking about. PEANUTS ARE NOT NUTS. They are legumes. (even though the word nut resides in the word peanut). Legumes have additional health benefits nuts do not have. And peanuts do share some of the health benefits of nuts.

But remember that peanuts are legumes, not true nuts, and contain a chemical which drastically increases LDL cholesterol. Peanuts and peanut products should also be strictly avoided for very small children, as the whole nut is a choking hazard, and peanuts have been implicated in ADHD. Walnuts, on the other hand, are high in protein and have the highest level of Omega-3 fats (fatty acids) which have been shown to reduce LDL cholesterol. Almonds have higher protein, but lower Omega-3.

Great Post! Peanuts and peanut butter are both yummy and good for you. In the magnetic diet it is recommended to use the Naturally More ™ brand which has a better nutritional profile than the regular stuff.

I eat vanilla yogert with one teaspoon of natural peanut butter mixed in everyday for a snack. It really tastes good. I started that when I was pregnant I couldn't hardly eat anything so my Mom suggested it and I loved it and been eating ever since. I know it may sound yucky but try it and you will most likly love it. Thanks, Angel

I also tell my clients to eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to gain muscle mass. It is also a great snack.
