Nothing wrong with a good cup of coffee. It's when you start adding creamers, whipped cream and choclate the calories start adding up quickly. The caffine contained in a cup of coffee can also benefit someone. It acts as an appetite supressant and a stimulant which helps me during those early morning work outs. use things in moderation and you will be OK. Best Regards...

High quality coffee (without the creams and sugars) can actually help decrease the shock of sugar entering your bloodstream, so it is a perfect compliment with your sweet treats. I drink mine black, so I can't understand the milk/sugar fixation (makes me ill!) I am allergic to nuts, which are all over those bakery goods, so I have to make mine at home. I use whole grain or unbleached flour, no milk chocolate and it tastes SO much better and cheaper!

Why wouldn't you want a cappaccino? It's not a sweetened drink so there's no artificial sugars. You can get it with skim milk and it'll be under 200 calories. If you're giving nutritional advice, be specific.

why is this country so obsessed with food and calories? it is really annoying that we are made to feel guilty by inane articles such as this referring to simple treats as'lurking' 'pitfalls' For GOD's SAKE!!! What is going on here? You wonder why teenage girls are starving themselves into anorexia and bulimia when food is referred to in such ominous tones...A treat is a treat. Everything in moderation. Food is pleasurable, food is joyous, and food is what humans need to SURVIVE! I am really sick of this calorie obsessed culture that we live in... I think if we concentrated on the real problems of society and not how many calories are in our slice of coffee cake, the world would be a much better, saner place.

You may also want to consider choosing light roast coffee over dark as there is evidence that the darker (ie burnt) roasts have potentially cancer-causing substances called acrylamides. Read more at http://fithealthy.wordpress.com

One person recommended sugar-free creamers as an alternative, but this may not be the best choice. These products, with the exception of stevia, are not natural, and have a variety of potential health problems, perhaps even alzheimers. Unpasteurized honey is a 100% natural alternative that is much healthier than your other sweetener options. Read more at http://fithealthy.wordpress.com

A good alternative to frappacino's are taking lactaid non fat about 80 cal per serving half ice and 1/2 a cup of strong coffee with on pkt of sweetner...makes for an inexpensive very low cal at home alternative..Smoothie king junkie? Take some non fat lactaid, ice and fruit of your choice, if it is not sweet add some sweetner. My favorite is half a banana, serving of pineapple chunks in own juice and lactaid w/ice, about 130 calories and .5 gram of fat..makes 16 oz
