Seems like everyone has their own little bit of advice. So I am going to add some of mine. First of all, yep, gotta eat breakfast. I love oatmeal, but the plain cook yourself stuff is GROSS! I don't use splenda(possible cancer risk) I might would use stevia if I found it. So I found Quaker simple harvest and it's YUM! Also I do 1/2 cup cottage cheese with it. I try to eat every 3-4 hours with 4 hours being the max that I go w/out food. And I limit the cals for each meal from 250-350. As for water. The 8, 8 oz glasses per day is a good rule of thumb, everyone should get at least that. But for optimal results you should be aiming for half your weight in ozs. in the water dept. So a 250 lb person needs approx. 125 oz of water per day. And a 100 lb person 50 oz. per day is the rule of thumb that I follow. I have a gallon jug that I fill straight from the tap each night before I go to bed. Each day I aim to drink it all through out the day. I use a water bottle that holds 4 8oz cups. So 2 of those and I get at least my 8 cups in. I aim for 4. Sometimes I do it, sometimes I don't. As for exercise. Yeah you can lose weight by not exercising. But the weight will come off much slower and you will end up becoming what they call "skinny fat" You'll be a smaller flabbier version of the old you. So at least aim for walking 30-45 mins per day, 3 times per week. Lifting weights is good to. It helps to tone and build muscle strength. Ladies don't worry about bulking up like a guy. We simply don't have the muscle mass or hormone level to get like that ;). I just recently started doing WW and so far I like it, but need to do some tweaking for me. Since I am doing the points and I noticed WW is on the carb heavy side. I try to keep my rations 40/40/20 and so far not to good,LOL so I am doing some changes and ramping up my exercise, something which I have to admit has been lacking. Anyway, thre is no one size fits all diet plan for everyone. You have to find something that works for you and stick to it. Remember this is not a diet, it's a lifestyle change. You can't lose the weight and go back to old habits otherwise the weight will come right back. I know that first hand. As I started out at a local weight loss center here, then I discovered Body for Life GREAT, GREAT program and did awesome. Lost 55 lbs in 5 months. But 5 yrs later, 2 more kids and same old habits, my weight came back. Not to mention I am older and it isn't coming off as fast. So Good luck to everyone! This will be MY LAST FAT SUMMER!!!

Fiber is excellent. And yes, don't forget the fluids!!! When I started to add more kinds of food with fiber I both saw AND felt a difference --and it was all GOOD! There is such a wide varity of foods with fiber now that I have found it pretty easy to add fiber to my diet.

I am 66 year old. I am 160 lbs, 5' 8" . I eat a whole grain breakfast. I need some ideas on brown bag lunches that will keep me going until 5PM. Tue, Thu, & Sat I work out at the gym with light weights & stairmaster or elipse. What can I eat for lunch that will keep me going for the rest of the day? Please give me some ideas.
