I have found that diluting the juice half-and-half with herb tea (my son and I like Red Zinger or Raspberry Zinger) makes a delicious drink and enhances the vitamin C. We call it "red juice" and we both love it!

I hate to be picky, because I am a regular reader and like this blog, but 1.5 cups is 12 oz, not 6 oz. I believe the information is good--and this was just a typo. Thanks Cheryl for your efforts and information!

i am so glad that I came back and read this again. My nine year old grandson dislikes all fruit and most vegetables due to their texture, (he has ADD). I never even thought that the juice still counts as a fruit serving, am I not crazy? Now I do feel somewhat better about him not eating whole fruit. Does V-8 splash count as a vegetable serving?

If 1/2 cup is 4 oz. then wouldn't 1 1/2 cups be 12 oz. not 6? Are your numbers correct? Jan

This is a good article to read! My daughter has 1 glass of 1/2 juice 1/2 water, once a day, and I do count it as a fruit. This has always seemed reasonable to me... I have found that being consistent with allowing a choice of water or milk at meals (juice is not a choice with meals except sometimes breakfast) has worked for me. This is also what my mom did...

Well I am mentioning tips to develop healthy food habits in your children/kids Diet: * Provide your child with regular five meals a day. * Do not feed a child forcibly as this makes the child obstinate. * Add color to their food by introducing raw fruits and vegetables. * Discourage the between meals nibbling habits. * Allow the child to have more outdoor games, to increase one’s appetite. Hope readers like and follow these guidelines Regards Vikas Dietician http://www.lifecentury.com

It's super important to introduce your kids to whole fruit when they are young before introducing them to Juice. Juice doesn't have the fiber that most whole fruit does, which makes kids more susceptible to a sugar rush when they have undiluted 100% juice. If juice is the only option your child will have in order to fulfill their fruit recommendations then make sure it's diluted.
