This is so true, but many of those products play on people'e emotions, especially people that are struggling with diets, so they see a skinny model and they only wish it could be them. I fear many of those products are dangerous, and if anything they make you more depressed, as once you see it doesn't work you regress. You are right the only way to loose weight is to eat healthy well balanced foods and to excercise. I lost about 40lbs over the past two years, and I have made life style changes, less fat and sugars, portion control, healhier habits, and moderate excercise everyday. I am still not super skinny, but I feel healthy, my blood pressure is 120/70 and my energy level is great.

You make more sense than all the advertisement I receive from all kinds of health gurus. I am 55 years old and weigh 193 pound but have 14% fat and my recent physical indicates I am healthy. I lift weights, do cardio before breakfast, and eat healthy about six small meals a day. Good advise young lady. Sincerely, Tony

If anyone ones to really become healthy and stay healty adopting a raw food diet or lifestyle is the ultimate lifestyle decision. Cooked foods and all other foods have absolutly no nutrition because the lieve enzymes in the food are cooked out.. for more info get some books and do some reasearch on eating raw

I think it's important to consider whether "independent sources" providing information about a product or diet are truly independent. So-called research is often funded by industry groups and can be biased it its approach. This is a point made in Campbell's "The China Study" which should be mandatory reading for everyone interested in nutrition.

for hotrod_216, Crystal: try to eat food group that lower in Glycemic Index. It will help your blood glucose level be stable, then you will not always want to eat.

Good advice. People is this country would be amazed at how much disease and sickness would disappear if they simply paid more attention to nutrition and started taking the time to do some resisitance training and were more active. We have become way to sedentary. Our bodies are designed to move! Not sit in car's, at computers, and then the couch and bed.

I liked this site. I have noticed that more and more information is popping up every place i look. TV, Radio, Magazines and its starting to upset me. The more "magic" weight loss solutions that appear the more people thing its ok to just eat none stop because all they have to do is pop a pill and BOOM they can get thin. It seems to me that with the HUGE obisity issue in America that people need to stop thinking a magic pill can help. They need stop pigging out, get up from the coach and go work out. Another part that pisses me off about all these "magic" pills is that i have a teenage niece who buys into all this crap and not only does she put her health in danger by taking these pills she also gets disappointed and discouraged when no weight loss happens.

I love how, just slightly to the right of this article are online ads for Wu-Yi Tea, "15 lbs in three weeks-no diet" ads, and "Amazing weight loss secrets." Http://www.medicineweight.com

While Dr. Koch is right, there is no "magic bullet" when it comes to health, please know that there are supplements and extracts out there that can greatly benefit one's health. Green lipped mussel oil has been shown by independent researchers to have wonderful antioxidant effects that protect the brain and reverse arthritis. If you want to know more, please look at http://www.mymoxxor.com/alissaj In this poisoned world, we need all the help we can get!
