How much is Monsanto paying you to push the very "unsafe" Aspartame?

I think 'Balance'is the key here. Even what illness is around. I strongly agree that whatever artifical isn't good regardless what ingredient or what reports/tests can prove it is harmless. Its about what u can accept and understand. It's about life. I strongly feels that one should lives a natural and 'down-to-"earth"' life- eating more greeny stuffs....

Give me a break! That is absurd and the FDA would not approve a pesticide for human consumption.A little friendly advice don't believe one fourth of what you read on the net most of it is people trying to see how fast a rumor will spread .

I think it is fine in small quantities...the same people that freak out about artificial sugars are the same people that drink, smoke or overeat or do some kind of other drug that they say is for "medical reasons"...everything in moderation is a good rule of thumb :)

"research has found no evidence to support such a link in humans" Well, studies have shown highly increased levels of cancer in both rats and monkeys (from taking aspartame), even at levels far below the ADI (Acceptable Daily Intake) for humans- which happens to be 50 mg/kg of body weight in the US and 40 mg/kg in the UK. This is worrying, as rats are usually far more resistant to chemicals than humans are. Please refer to these web pages: www.ramazzini.it/fondazione/pdfUpload/Environ Health Perspect 114 379-385_2006.pdf http://www.laleva.org/eng/2006/05/european_ramazzini_foundation_stands_behind_aspartame_study_results_announces_ongoing_research_on_artificial_sweeteners.html And related to headaches from aspartame (I personally get migraines easily from it): http://www.neurology.org/cgi/content/abstract/44/10/1787 So, I simply recommend that you question the safety of aspartame (as well as other sweeteners, although aspartame is probably the worst).

I read an article once on a health farm. When the girl couldn't keep up with the exercise she was told it was due to the diet coke she drank and in particular the aspartame. May be rubbish but i'd steer clear.

I have not look into the other artificial sweeteners, but there are good scientific evidences that Aspartame have harmful side effect. www.presidiotex.com/aspartame/ is a good site to do your homework, although there are many websites on the danger of Aspartame. Just google or yahoo "danger Aspartame" "adverse reaction Aspartame". Significance science exist to suggest avoidance.

I also want to mention that the first and only time that I took Splenda ( it was hidden in my soymilk ) it made me sick. I felt my stomach knotting up and weird sound emitting from it. Repeated trip to the restroom followed. I exercise regularly and live a vegetarian life style, so I do not know whether my nasty reaction was due in part to the fact that my body was not used to artificial sweeteners like Splenda. However, I know that even those who does not experience negative reaction from Splenda should be cautious. The fact is that artificial is artificial, and by the time mainstream science all agree you might have took the product for ten years and shown a new ear from it. Doctors used to employ smoking as a medical treatment.
