Read the book Sweet Deception by Dr. Joeseph Mercola if you really want to know the truth about artificial sweeteners

I would rather have honey in my food than artificial sweeteners. Sorbitol left me with unbearable headaches. Most of them are so sweet they are unacceptable in my home. After you stop eating sugar for a few years, it's hard to eat anything that tastes 10 times sweeter than sugar. I know a diabetic who uses Splenda, but her cakes and cookies are extremely sweet. I guess you have to do what you have to do.

And every single one of these "calorie free sugar substitutes that are approved by the FDA" are toxic to humans nonetheless. Happy eating. Did you know Splenda was originally supposed to be a pesticide but that they found out it was sweet by accident one day and thought they could get more money selling it as a sweetener? Mmmmmm!

    I. use stevia extract for sweetening my tea/coffee. It is a natural herb, calorie free, and contains no aspertame or saccharin. It contains rice maltodextrin, stevia rebaudiana(stevioside)extract and silica. It does not have a bad aftertaste, but does not always work well with baking. I don't believe it is FDA approved, however the label says it is a dietary supplement. What is your view on this product?

It is irresponsible to say these sweeteners are FDA approved without revealing risks. Long ago I suffered from terrible VERTIGO for six months after I began using aspartame once daily in coffee. Everything became difficult. When I stopped using aspartame the vertigo went away, but I did not associate the two until reading of this possible side effect in a medical article. I was young, healthy, ate right and exercised, and my doctor did not ask me if my diet had changed. Don't be fooled by FDA reports, do some research and use your own common sense.

Sugar Twin is the thing I've used in my first coffee (rest of my coffees are no sweetner). Most of the other stuff leaves an after taste. Especially the stuff in the pink packs

WHAT ABOUT STEVIA? IT'S A LOT MORE NATURAL THAN THE COMPOUNDS MENTIONED IN YOUR ARTICLE.

Most artificial sweeteners are poisons and they make you desire sweet foods even more, thus eventually increasing your weight. Here are just a few links that list the dangers of artificial sweeteners. http://www.whale.to/b/aspartame.html http://www.holisticmed.com/aspartame/ http://www.newstarget.com/011804.html http://www.mercola.com/2000/dec/3/sucralose_dangers.htm
