I read your article on weight loss surgery and was wondering if it would be right for me. I have tried everything from fad diets, to super fat burners, and even listened to the oh so many fitness experts, billy blanks, the guy from power 90 and so forth, but still no success. The reason I say no success is because I just may lose a few pounds and then it comes back. Why? Is it hereditary? Am I not working out enough? I don't know! I'm 5' 11" and 225 lbs. My BMI is 36 and I think that I look horrible and in return feel just the same. Can you give me some advice? To do or not to do, that is the question.

i am 57 years old and almost 100 pounds over .i have high blood pressure one working kidney and possible sleep disorder .am i a canidate for this surgery?

I was wondering if you could help me locate a treatment center near my hometown of Corpus Christ, Texas so that call for an assesment. One of my first questions is cost. Will this be covered by my insurance? I have diabetes and sleep apnea and I believe that I would be a good candidate. I would appreciate any contact info you have to offer. Thank you for your time. Why is it only for severely overweight? I am 50lbs overweight and have a bmi of 28.32. My problem is nothing more than portion control which would be corrected with this procedure. Why is it not for someone like me?

Thanks.Here's a question that needs some answering for every heavy weight bearing individuale.I weigh close to 475 LBS. and every time I get ready to buy a bike,or a treadmill,or fitness equiptment,they all are made for just people who are either normal or over weight.Now I have no problem with going to a machine shop class, gather a nice group of mad builders to create some fitness equiptment for we the huge people of the world.Do you know any companies who I can purchase great equiptment?? Bowflex, a gazelle, a trampoline,standard bike,stationary bike,ab scissors.These companies won't answer my questions...I say whoever makes it lets support their company,and if no one has done it,lets start a revolution. Hi destinysplace, I understand your problem of regaining the weight. Its because that when you diet, you are only losing water in your body and a very small amount of fat. One of the researches say that you must eat atleast 6 times a day in small quantities. This will actually confuse the body's metabolic activity. There are few tips. People I assure you no one needs surgery. I read the above and it's like all my clients BEFORE they got educated. Excuse, excuse, excuse. If you look for a solution you'll find it. In 1976 I had the first weight loss surgery being done. In July of 2004 I had that surgery reversed and the current perffered bariatic surgery done. I am now down to 155 from 275 a year ago. Would I do it again? In a heart beat!!!

Well, I just got done doing everything that they need to approve my surgery. I am very excited and very eager to have it done. I weigh 412 pounds at 23 years old at 5'2'' so I am excited I will have to post after surgery and let you know what happens. I am going to have it done Oct. 2005

My mother is having gastric bypass surgey in 9 days and I'm scared because I hear that one out of two-hundred people die. However, I have watched my mother struggle with her weight for twenty years. She's walked a million miles and purchased every peice of gym equipment, tried the pills, drank the shakes, ate the diet food, weight watchers and Jenny Craig gave up on her. I just want to see my mother be happy and healthy like she was before having two children. She is almost 50 years old and has 50 more great years ahead of her. I hope that she gets everything she wants out of this taboo procedure. If you want to send me an e-mail about it, I'll be happy to tell you what happens.

I have given birth to a baby about 11 months ago but I can't seem to lose weight. I bearly eat and when I do it's what I can afford. I'm still the same weight I was when I gave birth to my child. I do take birth control(seasonale)pills but it feels like it's making matters worse. What shouold I do?

I think that it's shame that people don't believe in themselves.It's hard to loss weight,but what isn't. When you want to get a good job what do you do? Do you get surgey to get a good job? No you work at it like everything else that you want real bad.It's about what you really want.

I believe that wieght-loss surgury is not good. It is a cheap way to get "thin" fast, because people do not want to give away their favorites foods or do exercises. Heritery has nothign to do with your wieght. Only you can decided what goes into your body and how you keep it in shape. I am speaking from my own point of view, I have been on my own diet for about three months know and i have lost 13 pounds, and i feel great. I am not overwieght or fat. I am healthy and i love my body. A diet is a lifetime thing, it teaches you to eat right and live longer. The whole idea of eating right and exerciseing is to keep your heart and your self being. Anyone who does wieght-loss surgury is wasting their money and people's time. In a couple of months or years the wieght come back, becasue you have not learned self control and good eating habits. Come-on people if you want to loose wieght do it the healthy way.
