Great article. For the "routine" part... I do have sort of a routine but being a past creature of habit that stuck to such a rigid regimine I now practice breaking the routine so that I'm not living life in a peverbial "re-run". Sorta like ending up being in a mind set of "Groundhog Day". LOL *** anywhooo.. peace to ya, hope you have a good weekend.

"Quality time" vs "Quantity time", a concept that was probably developed by voters with a guilty conscious about voting for a complete fairy tale "Mommy state or Mommy government" that takes care of every thing for them, as if they were still less than 2 years old. The guilty conscious comes from the fact that they and everyone one else that pays taxes has to feed the monster that they created, they have to have a two income household AND work longer hours. So since they sold their (and everyone else's) soul and time (income) to the politicians and tax man, they had to come up with a cutsie pie way of telling their kids that less is more.===== "Gee kiddies, our 20 minutes of family "Quality Time" per week is much better than us just sitting around relaxing longer periods of time providing love and guidance for you." They then explain to the attention starved kiddies that they must work longer so they can pay the bills and taxes. "What are taxes?" asks the kiddies. "Why that is what finances the government that pays for all the bigger prisons we need, all the "free" programs, your "free" lunches, and "free" pre school and on through "free" collage, so that we can work to pay more and more in taxes.". "That sounds stupid, why do you work longer and pay more taxes if it's free?" says one kiddie, "why don,t you just pay your own bills?". "Mind your manners" scolds the time starved parent, "and ask your state paid teacher that question! Their the ones being paid to raise you!". "Ohhh my head" says the parent. "Twenty minutes is up, gota go, I have to read up on the state proposal for a free preschool for newborns. Then get up early to go to work.".

#2,So very true. And how many are benefitting from those free programs who really shouldn't be, I wonder...

Private time, quality time. It's pretty much the same thing to me. I value my time alone.

Hopefully, everyone has a period of reexamination and growth beyond when their children start back to school. Life is nothing but a series of changes. Transform yourself frequently. Examine your conscience to make the necessary changes in your life. It requires attention and courage. There are people who are courageous and make the necessary changes for their lives and there are those who don't. Renewing the commitment to a healthy life for mind, body, and soul would be a good routine to start again if you have only been checking in on yourself once a year. You will get much more out of the school year if you learn how to be honest with yourself and make the changes you have been avoiding. Sometimes your routines are just a rut and not a pleasure. Don't be afraid to change when necessary. It can make life better.
