Nicholas DiNubile, M.D.

I'm Dr. Nicholas DiNubile, known to many as Dr. Nick. I'm an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, and author of "FrameWork - Your 7 Step Program for Healthy Muscles, Bones and Joints." I have a private practice in the Philadelphia suburbs, where I treat sports- and activity-related injuries and ailments. My patients range from recreational athletes to those at the professional and Olympic level. Some "couch potatoes" even come in for repair and advice. I'm also the Orthopedic Consultant to the Philadelphia 76ers basketball team and the Pennsylvania Ballet. I am proud to be included in "Best Doctors in America" and "America's Top Surgeons." I also enjoy teaching at the University of Pennsylvania, working with the next generation of physicians and surgeons.

I am very interested in preventive medicine, especially the role of exercise in maintaining and enhancing health. I am always teaching and preaching exercise is medicine. I was fortunate to serve as a Special Advisor to the Presidents Council on Physical Fitness and Sports during the first Bush administration, working closely with my old friend Arnold Schwarzenegger who was kind enough to recently write the forward to my book "FrameWork - Your 7 Step Program for Healthy Muscles, Bones and Joints," which explores a new approach to exercise and fitness that teaches you to take optimal care of your body, especially your frame.

I am on the board of directors of the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and was also one of the contributors to the Surgeon Generals Report on Physical Activity and Health. I've been fortunate to be honored with numerous awards, with the most dear to me being the Healthy American Fitness Leaders (HAFL) award given to individuals who have, through their work, improved the health of our nation. I've also had the pleasure of being featured on "Good Morning America," "CNN," and "National Public Radio," as well as in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Newsweek, and numerous other publications.

I enjoy writing and am on the advisory board for The Physician and Sportsmedicine, Muscle & Fitness, Shape, and Mens Health. My web site, drnick.com, is a focused, boutique-type source of health, fitness, and sports medicine information geared towards active individuals as well as those who wish to be more active.

In my blog, I will explore a wide variety of sports medicine and exercise topics, from injury treatment and prevention to nutrition and athletic performance. I welcome your comments and look forward helping you reach your athletic and exercise goals, while also avoiding the all-too-common sports injuries and/or musculoskeletal ailments that hamper so many of us.
