Dr. Leslie Baumann is the chief of the Division of Cosmetic Dermatology and a professor at the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, Florida.
She also heads the University of Miami Cosmetic Center, which was the first university-operated center dedicated to cosmetic dermatology in the United States. Dr. Baumann earned her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and completed her residency at the University of Miami School of Medicine.
She is author of the best-selling book, "The Skin Type Solution," currently writes a monthly column titled "Cosmeceutical Critique" for Skin and Allergy News, and has published a textbook for McGraw-Hill, "Cosmetic Dermatology: Principles and Practice," that is available in four languages. She is the author or co-author of many journal articles and book chapters.
Dr. Baumann is involved in many clinical research trials and lectures frequently throughout the United States, Asia, and Latin America on cosmetic dermatology issues. In addition to training dermatology residents and medical students at the University of Miami, she runs a training program for international dermatologists who are interested in expanding their cosmetic dermatology skills.
Her book, "The Skin Type Solution," was nominated for the 2007 Books for a Better Life Award. Her Web site gives unbiased advice to women and men about skin care products and procedures.
